But buying cheap furniture online doesn’t mean that you are limited to this source. There are specialist companies such as Overstock.com that act like offline furniture discount stores in that they buy furniture in bulk and sell it on at a cheap price. They make money by turning over goods very quickly and in large quantities and pass a lot of those savings to their customers.
If you don't mind buying second hand cheap furniture online, you can check EBay or Craigslist to see what may be on offer. People moving home or updating their current style often have perfectly good pieces that they just don’t want anymore. There are some that will try to sell any old rubbish though so you will need to be as sure as possible the people you are dealing with are legitimate. On EBay, you can usually find some customer feedback which may help. On Craigslist, you could source the piece online but then make an appointment to drive to see it, if the vendor lived locally. Again you are buying on the basis of what you see is what you get and there is no chance of return if the product proves faulty.
You can also buy cheap furniture online without having to go near a discount shop. If you go shopping to the normal bricks and mortar shops, you may find a suite of furniture that you love. Come home and log onto the internet and search for the same suite. This obviously assumes it is a brand name. Within five or ten minutes you will have a list of shops that sell that particular suite and at what price. Shopping like this can save you a fortune.
Another trick to use is to source a cheaper provider online but go back to the shop where you originally saw the suite and ask them to match the price. They might not do this for you but may give you a significant discount particularly for cash and may even throw in free delivery.
